Thomas McHale Obituary

August 2018 Tom was born in San Francisco, CA to Margaret & William McHale. He passed away, with his beloved family by his side, from a lengthy illness of heart and renal failure. Tom is survived by his loving spouse of 43 years, Janice McHale, son Scott McHale (Teri), daughter Nichole Vogler (Willy), daughter Lisa Ladner (Greg), daughter Kristina Kingdon, eleven grandchildren and his dear Aunt Marguerite Johnson, cousins Barbara Bondafini and Elton Johnson, along with his many nieces. He also leaves behind his four furry kitties he dearly loved and made him so happy as family and friends will tell you. Tom enlisted in the Air Force after high school and became a Combat Control Team Operator, working behind the lines in the jungles of Vietnam. Tom received an Honorable Discharge and awarded a Bronze Star and a Bronze Star with "V" Device, for his heroic actions in Vietnam. He was proud to serve and stayed in touch with his team members. Tom was able to meet his CCT buddies in reunions in Las Vegas, NV, most recently as last April. After his tour in Vietnam he joined the Sacramento Police Department, serving in the Patrol Division and CSI Division, he served on the SPOA Board of Directors and for Widows & Orphans Assoc., after 22 years he retired in Dillon Beach, CA. to enjoy life by the ocean. During retirement he was a commercial fisherman for a period of time and worked in construction. Tom was full of stories and laughter. He had a huge passion for going out with family & friends boating, camping, hunting & fishing. He deeply loved his family & always wanted them close. We will miss him dearly each day and will remember him always. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 15, 2018, 1:00 pm at Tomales Town Hall, 27150 Maine St, Tomales, CA. Tom brightened the room with his wit. He was a sincere, hard working cop dedicated to serving the public as a law enforcement officer and his fellow officers as a labor representative. I always valued his insight, attitude and perspective. My condolences to the family. May Tom rest in peace.

Tom will be missed by many. He was and is a Good Man, a Good Cop, a Good Advocate for his fellow cops and a Great Friend to many. I had the pleasure of working with him as a cop and we served together with the SPOA. May he Rest In Peace, my condolences to the family.

Tom was a wonderful friend. It is so sad to see him go. Wish he could have stayed a little longer. He always had wonderful stories to tell, some were unbelievable. Well you know he was a fisherman. We will certainly miss him. Gerard and Brenda
