Vincent Kruse Obituary

KRUSE, Vincent Louis "Vince"
Passed away on February 26th, 2005 at the age of 65. Vince was born in St. Louis on April 23rd, 1939. He moved to Sacramento in 1958 for his assignment at the Army Signal Depot. He served as the head guidon for the General's Honor Guard and led a performance on The Ed Sullivan Show. He married his best girl, Kathryn Georges, on April 11th, 1959, and together they shared 45 wonderful years of marriage. Vince started his carpenter's apprenticeship in 1958 and continued as a union carpenter until 1982. The highlight of his career was serving as construction superintendent during the state capitol restoration from 1975 until 1982. From there Vince went on to become a building inspector. He was president of the Construction Inspectors Association from 1986 to 1987. As a carpenter and an inspector he was proud of the part he played in the successful completion of many buildings in Sacramento and throughout Northern California. Vince and Kathy had four children, two boys and two girls. Vince spent their early years coaching little league and encouraging their success on the swim team. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sons Michael and Phillip, daughter-in-law Marcie, daughters Mary Margaret Caccamise and Jennifer, and son-in-law Greg Tucker. His eight grandchildren Trista (Imhof), Vincent, Lindsey, Kelly, Evan, Kathryn Caccamise, Philip Caccamise, and Rowdy all live in Sacramento. He is also survived by his mother Marie, brother James, and sister Phebe Lurtz of Missouri, sister Cheryl Pisoni of Florida, sister Karen Martz of Roseville, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and would-be family members. He was preceded in death by brothers Richard and Robert Kruse. Vince was the biggest man most people will ever meet, both physically and spiritually. He will forever be in our hearts. Memorial services will be held at Nicoletti, Culjis, and Herberger at 5401 Folsom Blvd. on Friday March 4th at 2:00 PM. Donations can be made in his name to the Shriners Hospital of Northern California.

Dear Uncle Vince: Yes, you were by far the biggest man I have ever known, both spiritually and physically; however, I didn’t realize until later in life just how big spiritually you were. You were always there for everyone. You always had a kiss & a hug, and kind word for me, even when I didn’t visit or call you often enough. I’m so glad we got to see you and spend so much time together on Christmas Eve 2004. Regarding your physical size, you used to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid. I don’t think I came up to your knees back then. Your booming voice used to send shivers all the way down to my toes. I will miss you and love you always. But I have one final question for you: Why did you die on my birthday? Man, were you mad at me or what? I Love you now and always, Theresa (and Glen & Jake, too).

P.S. To Kathy, Petey and all the kids and grand kids - I am so sorry for your loss and I think of you often. Please know that EVERYBODY who knew him, loved him. He was a stranger to no one. We are the ones suffering now. His pain is gone and he is happy.
