Virginia McAfee Obituary

McAFEE, VIRGINIA JANE
''Everybody's Nanny''
Surrounded by her loving family, she passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2003. Virginia was born in San Diego on July 9, 1926. She raised 4 daughters with the help of her late husband, Mac. She retired from Safeway stores in 1985 where she worked for 25 years. Virginia skillfully played ragtime music and old-time favorites on the piano - all by ear. Other hobbies included x-word puzzles, writing poetry, reading, trips to Reno where she was a big Keno winner, and her favorite one - spoiling her grandchildren. She is survived by 2 daughters, Bonnie Meola and Donna Bengle, and sons-in-law, Mario Meola, Steve Bengle, and Knud Pedersen. Her 12 grandchildren (and in-laws) include Nena Keeney, Angelina Meola, Patty Meola, Donna and Luke Barry, Andrew Holland, Bonnie Siracusa, Christina Munoz, James Munoz, Maryanne Pedersen, Knud Pedersen, Erin and Arian Mangal, and Kelley and Justin Barrett. Her 4 precious great-grandchildren are Christina and Ashley Keeney, Jevin Barry, and Kaelin Barrett. She was preceded in death by 2 of her daughters, Patricia Munoz and Janet Pedersen and her sister, Betty Tamarro. Her family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff at Sutter Roseville Oncology unit for their compassion and kindness. Their acts of kindness will be remembered always. A celebration of Nanny's life will be held today for all to attend at The Gathering Place, 3137 Taylor Rd in Loomis at 12:30pm. Nanny, Roses are red, violets are blue, you've been the most wonderful grandma ... we will always love you.

I'll greatly miss my "adopted mom".

I'll keep with me always all of my happy memories of vacations with Nanny, Mac, Janet and Donna. There were always loads of laughs and lots of fun at any occation.

I Love You Nanny.
