Walter McCLAIN Obituary

McCLAIN, Jr., Walter A.
Wally passed away January 10, 2011 at home with his loving wife, Bunny, by his side. Wally was a native of Sacramento, leaving his hometown only during military service as a paratrooper, and while attending the University of Oregon, where he graduated with a degree in history. Although he worked for 25 years as an insurance underwriter for Cal Western Life, his true love was music. He played piano and acted as choir director, both at St. Lawrence and Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic churcches. He sang with the Sacramento Capitolaires Barbershop Chorus for more than 30 years. Barbershop became a lifelong passion. His quartet, 1890 Four, sang together for over a decade. Wally is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bunny; children, Karen, Dawn, Anne, Gail, Lynn, and Walter; and nine grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by family and friends. Funeral Mass will be at 11AM on Saturday, Jan. 15th at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Sacramento Capitolaires; Our Lady of the Assumption Church; or a charity of your choice.
