Lincoln, California - Wayne Ash passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, after nearly a two year battle with cancer. During this time he was optimistic and grateful for everyone who helped, and shared time with him. Wayne was born in Sacramento, CA to George and Margaret Ash. In 1968 he graduated from Del Campo High school; in 1974 from Olympic College in WA, AS in Engineering; in 1980 from Sacramento State College, BS in Electrical and Electronics Engineering; and in 1994 from Golden Gate University, Executive EMBA in Business Administration. While attending college in WA Wayne worked for Art Anderson Assoc., a marine engineering company. Upon returning to the Sacramento area he was employed by Tesco a company who constructed Electrical controls. After graduation from Sac State, Wayne was hired by PG&E where he worked for 35 years as a planning and protection engineer. From 2000 to 2015 he served as a union member and leader of ESC.IFPTE Local 20 which he gained much pleasure from.
Wayne enjoyed fishing, swimming, family trips, and working with personal computers. For relaxation he found pleasure in reading mathematics, astronomy, micro/macro physics, and business and finance.
Wayne was preceded in death by his Parents, his sister Georgina Aklan, his brother George Ash, and niece Serena Mayo. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy of 46 years, sons Mike Ash, Wayne Ash, II (Tara), nephew John Aklan, and numerous cousins. His fun loving spirit, loyalty, and inquisitive mind will be missed by all who knew him.
He wants to thank his oncologist and the nurses at Kaiser, and a special thank you to the nurses at UC Davis who went above and beyond to show kindness, and gave so freely of their time with him.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to the American Cancer Society. There will be a private viewing and burial. For friends and family a memorial service is planned at the Auburn Presbyterian Church in Auburn on Sat. Jan. 15 at 11:00 am.
