Wesley Sherlock Obituary
March 17, 1929 - August 15, 2024
West Sacramento, California - Wes passed away surrounded by his family at the age of 95. He married the love of his life, LaVerne Nevis in 1949 and together, they built a life filled with love and devotion to one another, raising 4 children. In the early 1950's, Wes served as an engineman 3rd Class in the US Navy on the USS Breckenridge. For 40 years he ran his own ice machine business, Sherlock's Refrigeration. Wes was the MacGyver of all things and devoted patriarch of the Sherlock family.
Wes is survived by his children David Sherlock (Tanya), Robert Sherlock (Kelley) and Jane Hyett (Frank), his brother Donald Sherlock (Luis), 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren & dozens of cherished relatives from the Sherlock & Nevis families who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife LaVerne of 47 years, son Wesley Sherlock Jr., parents Homer Slagle and Martha Ruth Low Sherlock, brothers Thomas and Michael Sherlock, and sister Dorothy Herendeen.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 12 pm at River Cities Funeral Chapel, followed by internment at St. Mary Cemetery, and reception at VFW Hall on Drever Street, West Sacramento.

Wes worked as a refrigeration mechanic and later as the ice machine guru, for the Kassis Family at Stop-n-Shop, Food Circus , and Country Club Lanes.
I remember his as a gentleman and a very talented mechanic.
