What a loss to his family and to the community! Mr Morgan was our history teacher and as such taught us to always look at both sides of every story, to question life around us and most of all to react to life with thought, compassion and integrity. He was always fair and treated ALL of us as persons of value. Bill Morgan was a shining example of adulthood to a group of very impressionable young people in his classes. We'll miss him at our 50th reunion this year. Our deepest sympathy to his family.

It was often that Mr. Morgan walked through the halls at C.K. McClatchy High School, always with a smile and warm "Hello" or "Good Morning" to students as he passed. This was impressive as it was the first time in my years as a student that I witnessed a principal interacting with students in such a kind, personable manner.
Several years ago, my husband, Selwyn, and I performed with our big band (30's-40's-50's Dance Band) at the Sutter Club. Mr. Morgan was seated at a table with several others. I told my husband, "There is Mr. Morgan, the principal from C.K. McClatchy during my four years." Selwyn said, "Well, go say, 'Hello.'" I said, "No, he wouldn't remember me." Later that evening during one of our breaks, he walked up in front of my music stand to say hello and ask about me. He not only remembered me as a CKM student, he knew my name!
Mr. Morgan exemplified class with a style all his own. He valued what he did and it showed. He had a positive impact on many lives, and along the way entered many hearts. He was, and posthumously will remain, one of those rare, genuine, compassionate and respected role models who inspire others to realize their potential.
He will be sorely missed by many.
With sincere condolences,

Mr. Morgan was a great principal!! At our Class of '85 graduation, he shook the hand of my boyfriend (now husband Darrin Pradie),greeted him by his first name and congratulated him on all his VICA awards, and all his wood shop projects that won awards. Darrin didn't even know Mr Morgan had been watching. Mr Morgans' words made a lasting impression on Darrin.

Bill Morgan was always an admired Principal and great person to have known during my attending C.K.McClatchy
High School. He helped us form a new
registration type during my attendence
there and Bill was instrumental in getting that program done.

A couple years after graduating from McClatchy High School in 1969, I went to work at the school district's administration building and, for a time, got to know Bill pretty well. For me, I felt immediately comfortable calling him "Bill".
Maybe a dozen or so times we walked up to Sam's Hof Brau to have lunch and all the while he would eagerly seek my opinion about current events locally and beyond. We were both rapt observers of the unfolding Watergate epic. I was flattered by his genuine belief that I had something to say that he should hear.
He was constantly friendly, willing to chat, and I never once felt any barrier due to age difference or life experience. I appreciated that at age 20 - the fact that a guy who was once my high school principal could now treat me as an equal, even though we were each at very different places in life.
I clearly remember our many chats in the office mailroom about baseball. He knew his stuff. I've thought about those chats quite often over the ensuing years.
A good guy. Proud of his family. Fair. Decent. Available. Ready to listen respectfully to a 20-year old mailroom clerk while showing me better ideas about most everything. He remained a teacher long after leaving the confines of a classroom. A leader and an example. I admired him. Still do and always have.
I don't have to miss him. Those brief times we shared have never left me.
And, Bill, among many other things, you changed my mind about the proper way to advance a runner from second with nobody out. A hundred times since, whenever I preach the gospel of "hit it on the ground to the right side", it's your voice I'm hearing while I myself now talk to a 20-year old kid sitting next to me at a game.
Thanks, Bill. Today I'm a far better man for having known you for only a little while.

Mr. Morgan didn't put up with any nonsense but would always stop and take time to listen to his students. We were encouraged to do our best because we didn't want to disappoint him. Thanks to his family for sharing him with us.

During my high school years I was fairly shy, a good kid mostly, but flying under the radar (I thought). Imagine my surprise when on vacation in Salt Lake City, I saw Mr. Morgan & thought nooooo, that's not him. He saw me and said 'Hi Anne!' He knew my name, though I'd never been in trouble or spent time in the office. That was amazing! He was a great man, & will be missed.

My remembrance of Principal Morgan is nothing but good; I was not an exemplary pupil but Mr. Morgan always dealt with me in a respectful and fair fashion. I had tremendous respect for him and, if we only had more like him, I think we would all be better off.

Mr Morgan was the principal when I graduated from C.K. McClatchy in 1969. He attended our 30th reunion and spoke to us like he remembered everyone of us personally. He was a kind and warm gentleman, the sort of teacher and principal that everyone should have the privilege to know. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I'm sure he'll be at our 40yr reunion in spirit this September.

We have lost a lion of a man in the CKM family. We could always count on his warm smile around campus. I am indebted to him for hiring me in 1971 and I made it a 35 year career at CKM due to his support and confidence he gave me in his evaluations of my ability to be the best possible teacher. He was a great leader of the CKM family during his career. My condolences to his family.

Donna, I was so saddened to hear of Bill's passing. Although he wasn't in the picture when we were fourth graders, he was a delightful addition to our group when we entered adulthood. His kindness to my stepfather was so much appreciated in Mel's later years. His graciousness squiring us around when I'd return to Sacramento for functions was always appreciated. He was warm, kind and generous and I know you'll miss him terribly. My condolences to you and your family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mr. Morgan was the principal when I went to CKM, class of 1979. Our 30 year class reunion is this October. He took over when Mrs. Rife was unable to continue as principal. He was welcomed by all of the students and he did a very nice student rally for Mrs. Rife when she returned to Sacramento for a visit in 1979. Very sorry for your loss

Bill Morgan was a kind, thoughtful, caring, immensely friendly, and capable man. I could count on his ready smile and enveloping hand shake as a hallway greeting during my student years at McClatchy High School and on every occasion I happend to see him over the next 35 years. Bill represented the the best of career educators. The school district and the community were enriched by decades of his presence and dedication. What a great guy. I send my warmest wishes and heartfelt condolences to Bill's family.

My prayers to Donna and the family. I worked with Bill at C.K. McClatchy and he was an outstanding boss. He cared about his staff, students and the community. Bill was a kind and gracious human being and always looked at both sides of an issue. He had the respect of many in the Sacramento City Unified School District.
