It is with tremendous sorrow that we announce the passing of Zachary James Waite-Baglin on January 1, 2012, at the age of 17. Zach was born November 22, 1994, in Sacramento. He grew up in the area, attending Brookfield School, Marina Middle School, and later, Oak Ridge High School. Zach was an indomitable spirit and a generous soul who was known to be intelligent, quick-witted, and beyond all, caring. He was a blessed presence in the lives of his family, friends, and those he came into contact with through his many interests and activities.

Zach was always quick to take on a challenge and equally quick to excel at it. He was a competitive gymnast, baseball player, and Varsity soccer player. He wore out three different ping-pong tables as the neighborhood champion, and struck fear into the hearts of online gamers; he was so skilled in fact that his friends (only half-jokingly) referred to him as The General. In addition to his athletic achievements, he maintained a 4.0 grade point average as a junior and was active in his schools Youth in Government program. He aspired to attend San Diego State University.

A friend to so many, Zach was fiercely loyal and was gifted with the ability to make those around him laugh. He reveled in playing host to those friends who knew his home as their own. He also loved his family dearly, in particular, his cat Icky (aka Pilgore) and his four sisters who adored and looked up to him.

Zach leaves behind countless loved ones: his father James Baglin; his mother Christine Waite-Kerns; his stepfather Jeff Kerns; his sisters, Ariel, Jordan, Jaellian, and Lola; his grandparents, Jim Baglin, Charlyne Waite, Carmel and Gary Scott, as well as Judy Moore, Rick Moore, and Mark Waite, Sr. who preceded him in death. Zach will also be missed by his uncles, aunts and cousins including Mark Waite, Jr. and his wife Sara, Debbie and Tom Stanton and Scott Baglin.

Zach left this world far too quickly. Though his absence will weigh heavily on those who knew and loved him, it is our sincerest hope that his passing will have meaning and that he will be remembered for the brilliant light that he was and will always remain. He will always be his mommy's baby boy.

A public viewing will take place Friday, January 6, 2012, from 3:00pm until 5:00pm at Green Valley Mortuary and Cemetery, 3004 Alexandrite Dr., Rescue, CA 95672. A public Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 11:00am at the Rolling Hills Christian Church, 800 White Rock Road, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762. Interment to follow at Green Valley Mortuary and Cemetery, 3004 Alexandrite Dr., Rescue, CA 95672.
