Nicholas Hutcheson Obituary

BEAVERTON, Ore. - Nicholas Homer Hutcheson, 69, of Beaverton, formerly of Salamanca, N.Y., died Saturday (May 26, 2018) in Beaverton.

He was born on April 28, 1949, in Salamanca and was the son of the late Homer A. Hutcheson and Betty J. (Schermerhorn) Hutcheson.

He attended Kemper Military School in Boonville, Mo., and attended Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y. He was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a combat systems technical equipment operator on the USS Nimitz. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the Navy Expeditionary Medal. He was a proud member of the Hughes-Skiba American Legion Post 535 in Salamanca. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter, Lindsay, and was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Lindsay (Ed) Hutcheson of Beaverton; the mother of his daughter, Victoria "Vicky" Rand; and three loving sisters, Janet (John) Rhodes of Hanover, Ind., Shirley (Bill) Green of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Louise (Steve) Fitzgerald of Dallas, Texas.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Salamanca. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church and to the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post 535.
