Bettye Jackson Obituary

As the evening dawned, Mrs. Bettye Jean Blakeney Jackson, 78, peacefully answered the divine call and entered into eternal rest on Wednesday at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. Born on December 24, 1947, in Rowan County, she was the beloved daughter of the late James Blakeney and Lilly Mae Blakeney Feamster. Bettye lived a life marked by love, laughter, and unwavering faith, leaving an indelible imprint on all who were blessed to know her.

Educated in the public schools of Rowan County, Bettye was a proud graduate of J.C. Price High School. With a strong desire for personal growth and accomplishment, she furthered her education at Carolina Beauty School and Salisbury Business College. Bettye dedicated many years of faithful service in the workforce and later retired from Hoechst-Celenese and RHA, leaving behind a legacy of diligence and professionalism.

A faithful member of Thomas Street Church of Christ, Bettye was deeply committed to her church family. She served with humility and dedication always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she instilled in her children the importance of living for Christ, serving others, and trusting God in all things.

Family meant everything to Bettye. She treasured time spent with loved ones, especially during family gatherings that were always filled with laughter, stories, and joy. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the delight of her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Bettye embraced life fully, loved deeply, and gave freely of herself to those around her.

In addition to her parents, Bettye was preceded in death by her daughter, Latonya Gray; grandson, David White, Jr; and all of her siblings, Ellen Blakeney, Patricia Mitchell, Charles Blakeney, James Blakeney, Michael Blakeney, William Blakeney, Charles Mayfield, Everette Feamster, and Johnny Blakeney; her son-in-law, Eric Norman.

Those left to cherish her precious memories include her loving and devoted husband, Butch Jackson; her children, Wanda Norman, Jay Jackson (Deanna), April Jackson (Daniel), and Laniece Gray; a very special niece who was like a daughter, Rachel Anderson (Alfred); eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

A life beautifully lived and a heart full of love, Mrs. Bettye Jean Blakeney Jackson will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all whose lives she touched.

Arrangements: Services are Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Thomas Street Church of Christ with Visitation at 12:30pm and Funeral at 1:00pm. Interment will be Friday, January 30, 2026 at 1:30pm in the Salisbury National Cemetery. Brother Phillip Thompson, Pastor, Officiating/Eulogist.

I want to send sincere condolences to the family of Mrs.Bettye Jackson. I know losing a mom, grandmother or wife is very hard. But when you all have done for your mom the way you all have I think it makes this transition a little easier. I will be praying for you all and I wish I could attend the service but unfortunately I am having surgery that day. However, I will be praying and thinking of you all. Much love Jeanette Kincaid.

Granny I am definitely going to miss you. You were my best friend. Thanks for everything. Thanks for raising me & my crew. You were the best grandma that a grandchild could ask for. Thanks for always being there & loving us no matter what. Until we meet again. If I can just hear you one more time say "Love you, Later Tator" that will be enough for me. I love you with all my heart. We will meet again. Save a spot for us all. Love you #Later Tator
