Bruce Edwin Sims

Bruce Edwin Sims, 83, of Spencer passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. Born August 26, 1933 in Bristol, VA, he was the son of the late Beatrice Bunn Sims and Clarence H. Sims. He graduated from Spencer High School. Mr. Sims was a longtime member of Central United Methodist Church, a Lifetime member of the Spencer Jaycees and a member of the Spencer Moose Lodge #2019. He owned and operated Sims Distributing Company before retiring. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Kelly Sims on July 7, 2004; a brother Haynes Sims, and sister Barbara Wellman. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters; Rita Sims and Ginger Honeycutt and husband Tommy all of Spencer; grandchildren, James E. Honeycutt and wife Corey of Rock Hill, SC and Kelly H. Kiefer and husband Mike of Mooresville; great- grandchildren, Wrenn Honeycutt, Rowan Honeycutt and August Kiefer. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Wednesday (May 17) at the Summersett Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 AM Thursday (May 18) at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Mason officiating. A private family graveside service will be conducted Thursday.
