Carole Redding Chilson

1949 - 2022

Carole Redding Chilson, 72, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Medical Center in Concord. She was born Dec. 31, 1949 in Rowan County to the late Calvin Osborne Redding and Ruth Mary Safrit Redding. Carole was a 1968 Honor Graduate of East Rowan High School and during her career she was employed as a Tax Preparer for H & R Block and was an Administrative Assistant for Met Life. She enjoyed crocheting, and self taught at knitting and was part of the knitting group at Shiloh Reformed Church of Faith. Carole also enjoyed gardening, baking homemade yeast rolls and pecan pies, canning, trips to the beach and mountains. She loved hummingbirds. Carole was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, a past member of the choir and handbell choir, she was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Altar Guild Committee, a past member of the Church Council, member of the Hama Lingle Group and Vanessa Hovis Group. Carole is survived by her husband, David R. Chilson; son, Wayne Chilson (Delinda); daughter, Susan Culp (Bobby); grandchildren, Whitney, Erica, Mattie, and Logan Chilson, and Seth Culp (Heather), and Kelsey Culp. And also by her brother, Phillip (Melinda) Redding. Arrangements: The family will greet friends and relatives on Saturday, Jan. 15, 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Salisbury. The memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Salisbury, with Pastor Mark Ryman officiating.
