Charlie Eugene Gene Sipes

Charlie Eugene “Gene” Sipes, 73, of China Grove passed away, Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Liberty Commons, after a long battle with cancer. He was born April 6, 1944 in Statesville to Coleman Sipes Jr. and the late Mary Taylor Sipes. Charlie was a member of Genesis Baptist China Grove. He retired from Lexington Home Brands and started his own business, Sipes Flag Car Service, escorting oversize loads. He was a camping enthusiast. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 48 years, Barbara Sipes; two children, son Timothy Sipes of Charlotte and daughter Kathy Sipes of Las Vegas, Nev.; four brothers, Franklin (Thelma), George (Libby), Larry (Edith) and Roger (Lisa); two sisters, Margaret (Ed) and Frances (Baxter); six grandchildren, Justin, Tyler, Ana, Sammy, Christian and Hunter; three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Teagan and Arabella; and numerous nieces and nephews. Service: Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Genesis Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation: Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday prior to the funeral service at Genesis Baptist Church.
