Christine McDade Obituary
LEXINGTON - Christine Watson McDade, age 83, a resident of Lakeview Church Road, Linwood, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.
Born Dec. 25, 1926, in Davidson County, she was the daughter of Leslie Zemp "LZ" Watson and Matlean Moore Watson.
She was a homemaker and a member of Greer's Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Burke McDade, Sr. on Feb. 5, 2005; a son, Walter Burke McDade, Jr; a daughter, Theresa Potts; two brothers, LZ "Buck" Watson and Tommy Watson; and a sister, Priscilla Moody.
Survivors include two sons, Greg McDade and wife, Melodie of Lexington and Michael McDade of Cary; a daughter, Gloria Ford and husband, Steve of Lexington; daughter-in-law, Renee McDade; grandchildren, Erica Tilley and Shawna Potts, whom she raised, Tina Orrell, Ashley Schmidt, Brittany Loy, Patrick McDade, Adam McDade, Burke McDade and Claire McDade; great-grandchildren, Christopher Holder; Austin, Conner, Addison, and Holden Schmidt, Jeffrey Loy and Jonah Tilley.
Service and Burial: A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4 at Greer's Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Lori Anne Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to Greers Chapel United Methodist Church, 8195 Old Salisbury Rd., Linwood, NC 27299.

Michael, Greg and Gloria, I wish to express our deepest condolances on the loss of your mother, Christine. She was a dear lady and we enjoyed having both she and Mac in our home and going to "Snappy's Lunch" with Erica. We all had a great breakfast and nice visit.
