Dallas H. Atkinson

SALISBURY - Dallas Honeycutt Atkinson, 69, of Salisbury, passed away Friday, April 9, 2010, at her residence.

Dallas was born Dec. 30, 1940, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Harold McNeary Honeycutt and Emma Elizabeth Gordon Honeycutt.

Dallas was educated at the Mt. Ulla High School, was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and a homemaker; she loved quilting and flower gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Franklin Atkinson on Nov. 16, 2008; a grandson, Aaron Simerson; three sisters; and two brothers.

Survivors include daughter, Myra A. Simerson; grandson, Jordan Simerson; brothers, Harold McNeary Honeycutt, Jr. and wife, Dorothy, David R. Honeycutt and companion, Jo-Ann, Jimmy Honeycutt all of Salisbury, Eddie Honeycutt and wife, Ruth of Plymouth and Jeff Honeycutt and wife, Jennie of Wilson; and sisters, Frances Lambert and husband, Don of Concord, Sue Honeycutt and companion, Reggie Rattz of Gold Hill and Angie Shaver and companion, Wayne Jackson of Salisbury.

Visitation: 6- 8 p.m. Monday at Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell and the residence the remainder of the time.

Service and Burial: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eastside Baptist Church, Salisbury, conducted by Rev. Joe Black, Pastor. Dallas will lie in state in the church 30 minutes before the Funeral Service. Burial to follow at Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury.

Memorials: Liberty Hospice, 1007 Lexington Avenue, Thomasville, NC 27360 or to Eastside Baptist Church, 370 Trexler Road, Salisbury, NC 28146.
