Darryl Alexander Obituary

Darryl Anthony Alexander, Sr., 70, of Salisbury passed on July 1, 2024 at Autumn Care of Salisbury.

Born November 22, 1953, in Salisbury NC, he was the son of the late Leonard Phillip Alexander Sr. and Doris Harris Alexander.

He was a 1972 graduate of Salisbury/Boyden/Price High School, graduated from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1977, and a Master's of Science Degree in Computer Engineering in 1982. Darryl retired from the City of Salisbury and opened up his own custom jewelry business, wire wrapping precious stones he sold online, and also at the Webb Rd. Flea market in Salisbury. Darryl loved his friends so very much, and was a very social individual with a wide range of interests. He took great pleasure in sharing his thoughts and insights with others, and always enjoyed a good laugh.

Darryl's favorite hobby was playing golf, and he could often be found on the greens sharing laughs with his golfing buddies, or teaching the youth how to play, as a volunteer with “The First Tee” youth golf program.

He is survived by his three sons, Darryl Jr., Derrick, and Darius. His sister, Phyllis Alexander Mahmud, and his two brothers, Gerald Alexander, and Leonard Alexander Jr. He will be deeply missed but his legacy of love, loyalty, and integrity will live on in the hearts of all those who knew him.

Lovingly submitted by the family

Arrangements: Graveside Service will be Friday, July 12, 2024, 12:00 Noon at Oakdale Cemetery, Salisbury. Reverend Dr. Derrick Anderson, Officiating.

Darryl Alexander Sr. was everything to me. He was a dad, a father, a leader, a person I could always talk to about anything. He showed me love my entire life. He supported me, and always made me feel as the I was loved. I'll always miss him, but will keep his memory alive throughout my life. Thanks for everything Dad. I love you more than anyone would ever know.

Darryl was not only my dad, he was also my best friend. One thing we often did together was go to the movies. He really enjoyed that, and it was one of his favorite things to do. He also loved to cook exotic foods and explore different cuisines from around the world. He was a very adventurous man and always pursued his dreams. I will miss the good times we had together and cherish those memories forever. I love you dad.

My deepest condolences to the family. I met Darryl when I became a City of Salisbury employee in 2017. We worked in the same building at the Customer Service Center. He was such a nice person. Always had a smile on his face. I was sad to hear about his passing from another coworker. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
