David Lee Smyre

Mr. David Lee Smyre, 66, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at his residence. Born September 25, 1954 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Albert Smyre, Sr., and Cynthia Talford Smyre. Educated in the public schools of Rowan County, he was a graduate of Boyden High School. Mr. Smyre was a retired veteran having served in the United States Army. He also retired from the W.G. Hefner V.A. Medical Center where he worked in housekeeping. He was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church, Salisbury. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Anita Murphy Smyre on November 23, 2017; brother, Albert Smyre, Jr.; and sister, Hattie Mae Smyre. Those left to cherish his memories are his sister, Gladys E. Talford of Salisbury; nephew, Robert F. Caldwell (Tiescha) of Salisbury; nieces, Ekima Caldwell-Jefferies (Demeturis) of Kannapolis, and Tyesia Caldwell-Smith of Ft. Mill, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends. Arrangements: Public Walk Thru Sun., May 2, 2021 from 2-4 pm at the funeral home. Funeral Service Mon., May 3, 2021 at 12:30 pm in the A.R. Kelsey Memorial Chapel, Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home, Inc.
