Diana Storey Obituary

On Saturday November 8th, Diana Spencer Storey left this earthly life unexpectedly but peacefully. Diana had been in declining health over the past few months, but had greatly enjoyed spending time with her first granddaughter, Emerson Lee.

Diana was born in Martinsville, VA to Ted and Nancy Spencer on December 3, 1966. She graduated from North Stokes High School in 1984, and went on to obtain a degree in English from UNC Chapel Hill.

Diana married her college sweetheart Ned Andrew (Andy) Storey in 1990. They were blessed with two children - Katelyn Storey Lee and Spencer Andrew Storey.

Her English degree and love of reading served her surprisingly well in her career in healthcare. Diana put her eye for detail and knack for diplomacy to good use reviewing and negotiating networks and contracts at Partners National Health Plans of NC, Inc., Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC who later purchased Partners and went on to enjoy a 28 year career with the company. She finished her career as Medicare Market President of the Carolinas and Mid Atlantic for Cigna.

Diana embraced the challenges and joys of being a working mom. Despite her busy career, she made sure to make it to every tennis match, running meet, golf match, or baseball game her kids played growing up. After work and shuttling kids around she also found time to cook. Diana enjoyed showing her love for her family, friends, and neighbors through thoughtful and delicious meals. She loved her family and made sure she did everything she could to make sure they knew it.

Diana also had a love of music. Growing up playing oboe, she was able to share her talent in her high school marching band and then in the choir for many years at First United Methodist Church in Salisbury. She had a love for travel, which began her music knowledge got her accepted to an exchange program in Germany during high school. She would go onto plan many family trips through the years. Diana was well known for her organizational skills. Her friends and family knew who their first call would be when planning any event as no detail would be overlooked.

Diana was preceded in death by her mother Nancy earlier this year. She is survived by her husband Andy Storey, her daughter Katelyn Storey Lee and son in law Alex Lee and granddaughter Emerson Lee, and son Spencer Andrew Storey. Diana is also survived by her father Ted Spencer (Sylvia), sister Cheryl Bullins (Terry), brother Steven Spencer (Tracy), nephew Josh Bullins (Deanna), and nieces Courtney and Madelyn Spencer of Lawsonville.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 14th at 11am at First Presbyterian Church, 308 W Fisher Street, Salisbury, NC 28144. A brief visitation and reception with the family will be held in Lewis Hall following the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be shared with Community Care Clinic of Rowan County at communitycareofrowan.org or with First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury at 308 W Fisher Street, Salisbury, NC 28144.
