Dorothy Hinz Obituary

Dorothy C. Hinz “Dottie,” 88, of Salisbury, went peacefully to be with God, surrounded by family, Friday, September 5, 2025 in Hospice at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

Dottie was born June 10, 1937 in DeWitt, Iowa to Ralph L. Campbell and Lois M. Campbell.

She graduated from Pharmacy School at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. She worked as a drug store pharmacist in Dewitt until she married her love, Dennis in 1959 and then in several places when the Navy moved them. After she and Dennis settled in Salisbury, she was a pharmacist at Rowan Memorial Hospital for 20 years before retiring in 1990. She was a faithful member of Milford Hills United Methodist Church, the Crosstalk Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women. She once played in the Handbell Choir and served on numerous committees and most recently, she “retired” from the church financial secretary position where she served for 20 years. Dottie, along with her husband, Dennis, was the recipient of the Laity Service Award. She was also involved with the Rowan Helping Ministries in Salisbury.

Dottie was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Dennis, the love of her life for 65 years; and her sister, Rita C. Fisher.

She is survived by her daughter, Debi Milheim (Vann) of Pensacola, FL; two grandsons, Chris Milheim (Ashley) of Pensacola, FL and Ryne Milheim of El Paso, TX; two great-grandchildren, Joanna Milheim and Rhys Milheim of Pensacola, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements for a Celebration of Life will be made for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Milford Hills UMC Capital Campaign, 1630 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144; Rowan Helping Ministries, 226 N. Long Street, Salisbury, NC 28144 or a charity of your choice.

Dottie's family would like to thank the CICU staff for their care and compassion they gave during her time at Presbyterian Hospital.
