Ethel Bryant Barber

WOODLEAF - Mrs. Ethel Mae Bryant Barber, 84, of Morrison Road, passed Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at her residence.

Born April 21, 1928, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Roger Bryant and Katie Cuthbertson McNeely. Educated in public schools of Rowan County, she retired from Cone Mills in Salisbury.

Mrs. Barber was a member of Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, where she served on the Usher Board and Kitchen Committee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Barber; and a grandson, Marlin Barber.

She is survived by her children: Janette (Wesley) Rustin, East Spencer, Rosa Blackwell of the home, Retta Barber, Woodleaf, Willie (Laverne) Barber, Woodleaf, Tommy Barber, Cleveland; a special nephew reared in the home, Herbert (Pamela) McNeely Jr., Tampa, Fla.; sisters Shirley Echols, Mildred Roberts and Nevada Bryant, all of San Diego, Calif., Christine McCoy, Kannapolis, Ethel Tomlin, Mooresville, Amanda Turner, Mooresville; brothers David Bryant; Seattle, Wash., Bobby Torrence, Mooresville; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation: 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Emory Rann III, officiating.

Burial: Church Cemetery.

The family will be at the home on Morrison Road in Woodleaf.

We are so sorry and heartbroken to hear about the passing of Mrs.Ethel. she was such a sweet lady and always made you feel loved and welcomed into her home.I remember bringing my father,Jerry,to the country to visit and the warm feeling in the home.talking about growing up in the good ole days.she will be greatly missed and forever thought about. family please know that we are praying for GOD to comfort you all.
