Eugene Neal

1946 - 2021

Eugene Toscanini Neal, age 74, of Spencer passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at his residence. Eugene was born July 26, 1946 in Rowan County only son of the late James Elizabeth Brown Neal and Thomas Lee Leviston Neal. He was a 1964 graduate of Dunbar High School and attended Livingstone College. Mr. Neal worked for Norfolk and Southern Railroad as a brakeman and later worked for W.G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center in housekeeping as long as his health allowed. He attended of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness. He enjoyed fishing and playing chess and spending time with his family. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Connie Ingram Neal whom he married July 8, 2014; sons, Ian Neal (Cherell) of Salisbury and Tracey Eugene Neal of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Kim Neal Lewis (Randy) of Salisbury and Ebony Sims Miller (Timothy) of Granite Quarry; step-children, Jo-Leverne Tomblin, Chona McCorkle, Larajia Kelly and Sonya A. Neely; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Service: A memorial service will be Friday, June 4, at 2 p.m., at Summersett Memorial Chapel.
