Frances Karriker

Frances Orbison Karriker, age 77, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House, Salisbury, after a period of declining health. She was born Feb. 3, 1938, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Edward Eldredge Orbison Sr. and Beulah Parker Orbison. Frances was employed with Reeves Brothers, Inc., where she worked for 32 years until retirement. She was an active and faithful member of Back Creek Presbyterian Church, Mt. Ulla, before her decline in health. She was a teacher of the Ladies Morning Circle, a regular participant in the Keenagers Club and a dedicated cook preparing meals for funerals and other church needs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Orbison Stuart; and three brothers, Wayne Orbison, Cecil Orbison and Darrell Orbison. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Jim Karriker; her daughter, Sherry Ellsworth; her son, Jeff Karriker; her grandson, Jonathan Ellsworth; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Ellsworth and Campbell Kate Ellsworth; four sisters, Patty Jean Orbison, Becky Waller, Phyllis Honeycutt and Catherine Love; and two brothers, Ed Orbison Jr. and Phillip Orbison. Service: The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 20 at Back Creek Presbyterian Church, Mount Ulla, officiated by Rev. William R. Thrailkill. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 19 at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis. Memorials: May be made to Glenn A.
