Franklin Null Obituary

Franklin Leroy "Frank" Null, 87, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, August 23, 2021. He was born October 20, 1933, in Rockwell to the late John R. and Carrie Holshouser Null. Mr. Null attended Rockwell School before enlisting in the United States Navy at the age of 17. He served four years active duty before transferring to the Naval Reserves for four years. Mr. Null was employed as a loom fixer with Cannon Mills and retired after 40 years. He was a former little league baseball coach for Bare Furniture and former scout leader at Grace Lutheran Church. As one of twelve children, he grew up tending and growing most of the family's food, something that he enjoyed doing his entire life. He enjoyed farming and raising animals, having a large garden and giving away what it produced. Mr. Null enjoyed being outdoors and especially loved deer hunting and fishing at the coast. He loved being around children and animals and they all loved him back. In addition to his parents, Mr. Null was preceded in death by his siblings, Geneva Kirksey, Lola Stevens, John "Buck" Null, Jr., James "Sleepy" Null, Charles "Chock" Null, Sam Null, and Howard Null; and son-in-law, Randy E. Goodman. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Barbara Ann Cloninger Null, whom he married February 26, 1955; his children, Renee Clark (Scottie) of Salisbury, Tina Harrington (Johnny) of Salisbury, Lesha West (Kenneth) of Salisbury, and son, Eric Null (Angela) of Alabama; sisters, Mary Deal of Salisbury and Margaret Morgan of Mooresville; brothers, Rick Null of Texas and Tom Null of Georgia; 11 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The family will greet friends and relatives Thursday, August 26, 2021, 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 27, in the chapel of Powles Staton Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Shoaf officiating. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens. Out of respect for the family, those attending the visitation and service are asked to wear a facial covering and respect social distancing recommendations.
