Freda Caudill Obituary

Mrs. Freda Campbell Caudill, 80, of Salisbury went to be with her heavenly Father on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, with her family by her side. What a day of celebrating it was. She woke up that same day and told her family “I am good”. “I am happy”. Affectionately known to many young children she kept in her home as “Mama Freda”, she was a loving devoted wife, mother and grandmother. After raising her own children, she went to work at Revco (CVS), F&M Bank and then J. C. Penney. Before moving her membership to First Baptist Church of Cooleemee, Freda was an active member of Jerusalem Baptist Church where she was involved in the Care Ministry, Prayers and Squares, Women's Ministries and was Secretary of her Sunday School Class. Born Oct. 1, 1937, in Morehead, Ky., Freda was the daughter of the late Thomas and Emma Campbell of Kentucky. She was the youngest of 14 children and was preceded in death by all her siblings. Freda looked forward to being reunited in heaven with her sister Mae with whom she resided after the death of her parents. Freda is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Harold Caudill whom she married on Oct. 25, 1958. She is also survived by her children, Debbie Davis (Bob) of Woodleaf, Teresa Hodge (Jack Jr.) of Salisbury and Andy Caudill (Sabrina) of China Grove; grandchildren, Madison Tucker Osborne, McKenna Caudill and McGuire Caudill; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 26, at the Summersett Funeral Home and will be at the residence at other times. Service: Funeral services will be 12 noon, Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the Summersett Memorial Chapel with Rev. Allen Mullis, minister of First Baptist Church of Cooleemee. My prayers and thoughts are with this family at this time. My children enjoyed staying with Mama Freda after school. My son always talked about her delicious gravy. She was such a positive influence on many children.
