Fredrick Arthur "Fred" Aggers

Fredrick "Fred" Arthur Aggers, age 73, passed away peacefully at home on October 2, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years Marjorie Parsons Aggers of Salisbury NC, his daughter Summerlin Aggers Duerr (Seamus) grandsons Aedan and Finn of Wake Forest, NC and son Jeremy Fredrick Aggers (Kristin) and grandson Arthur of Decatur, Ga, his mother Genevra Linaberger of Slippery Rock, PA, his siblings, Evelyn Taylor, Larry Aggers, Shirley Dorus (John), and Roxanne Clingensmith, all of PA. Fred was preceded in death by his father Fredrick Arthur Aggers.

Fred was born November 18, 1951 in Sharon PA to Genevra and Fredrick Aggers. He was a graduate of Butler High School in Butler, PA and received his BS in English from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC.

Fred was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury where he was involved in the Discovery Sunday School Class and various church committees. He was a faithful servant and his devotion to Christ was evident to others in his daily life. After a debilitating brain surgery in 1991, and after months of rehabilitation, he became a volunteer with Joni Eareckson Tada's organization, Wheels for the World, which took him on global mission trips. Soon after, under the umbrella for Wheels for the Wold, he started his own non-profit, Earthen Vessels Ministries, where he collected hundreds of donated wheelchairs and mobility devices for refurbishment and distribution to the differently-abled across the country and globe. Before his surgery in 1991, Fred also worked for years as a sales manager for Moore's Building Supply.

He immensely enjoyed traveling with his wife to all 50 States, visiting every National Park that they could, and kept traveling right up to his final days. He cherished his grandsons, and enjoyed using his hobby of woodworking to craft various objects through the years. He was passionate about his Pittsburgh sports teams and Carolina Hurricanes hockey where he loved watching and going to games with his family. Fred was always kind, always gentle, and was eternally willing to help others at a moment's notice (including weekly grocery runs for his mother-in-law, Reba Parsons). He was known for his mild manner, his razor-sharp wit, and his love for his Lord and Savior.

The family would like to thank the team of doctors and caregivers at the Duke Cancer Center - Dr. Aman Opneja and Wendy, and the Wallace Cancer Institute - Dr. Mark Wimmer and Kelsey.

A celebration of life service is scheduled for October 22, 2025 at 2:00pm at First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury with a reception to follow.
