Gary Connor

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Gary Connor, who took his eternal rest on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family. Born June 25, 1951, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late James E. Connor and Margaret Ramseur Connor.

A very stylish man known for his “swagger,” Gary was always impeccably dressed, often wearing a signature hat to complement his attire. He exuded confidence and carried himself with pride, a reflection of his character in every facet of life.

Educated in the public schools of Rowan County, Gary was a 1969 graduate of South Rowan High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Livingstone College in 1979. His perseverance and love for audio and visual technology led him to a successful career spanning more than 25 years in retail sales of audio and visual equipment. He also operated his own business as an independent contractor in the field--doing what he loved made his work seem effortless.

Charismatic and full of life, Gary Connor cherished the close circle of friends he held dear. They often gathered to enjoy social events, especially those connected to his beloved alma mater, Livingstone College. A proud and active alumnus, he delighted in attending Homecoming whenever he could, sharing laughter and memories with classmates while supporting the college he loved.

Mr. Gary Connor also treasured time with his family--whether watching the Carolina Panthers or his former favorite team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It wasn't just about the game; it was about the camaraderie, the connection, and the joy of being together.

A lover of music, Gary could often be found listening to smooth R&B and Jazz in his spare time. His deep understanding of high-fidelity sound made his appreciation for music even greater--he truly knew what it took to make it sound its best.

In addition to his parents, Gary Connor was preceded in death by his brothers, Alfred Connor, Sr. and Ricky Connor.

Those left to forever cherish his memory include his children, Marlon Connor (Lorri) of Concord, Ramsey Connor (Adrienne) of Raleigh, and Ava Sanders of Charlotte; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Bobby Connor; aunt, Pauline Harding of China Grove; special cousin Sampson Towens of Greensboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, dear friends, and classmates.

Arrangements: Services will be Sunday, October 19, 2025, in the A.R. Kelsey Memorial Chapel, Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home, Inc. with Visitation at 3:00 pm and Funeral at 3:30 pm. Reverend Chavis Maxwell, Pastor of Rose of Sharon Holiness Church, Officiating/ Eulogist.
