'Geri' Spears Reid

SALISBURY - Geraldine "Geri" Spears Reid, 51, of Salisbury, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at Rowan Regional Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Born Aug. 20, 1957, in South Bend, Ind., she was daughter of the late Shelby Seagraves Aistrop. Educated in the Rowan County schools, she was of the Baptist faith. Ms. Reid enjoyed being a waitress at many Salisbury restaurants.

Survivors include her companion of 19 years, Diane Scruggs; brothers Mike Aistrop and wife Tina of Woodleaf and Tony Spears of Salisbury; nephews Trey Spears and Michael Aistrop; nieces Tiffany and Ashley Aistrop and Jennifer Sutphin and husband Chad; great-nephew Gabriel Sutphin; and great-niece Destiny Sutphin.

Service: 2 p.m. Thursday in Northcrest Chapel of Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, with the Rev. Larry Beaver, pastor of Main Street Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove.

Memorials: Rowan Regional Home Health & Hospice, 720 Grove St., Salisbury, NC 28144; or South River United Methodist Church, Food Pantry, 2880 South River Church Road, Woodleaf, NC 27054.
