Glenn Ray “Pud” Holshouser, 94, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury, NC. He was born January 17, 1928 in Gold Hill to the late William Ray Holshouser and Lucy Robinson Holshouser. Glenn was a 1945 graduate of Rockwell High School and after graduation he worked at Goodman Lumber Company until enlisting in the United States Navy. During his military career he trained at Norfolk, VA as a Seaman First Class and served on the USS Consolation (AH-15) and USS Little Rock (CL-92). During his service overseas he toured in Plymouth, England; Stockholm, Sweden; Antwerp, Belgium; Naples and Rome, Italy. After an honorary discharge he returned to work at Goodman Lumber Company where he worked for 48 years before retiring as a Master Woodman. In retirement Glenn downsized his garden to grow 500 tomato plants, corn, cantaloupes and other garden vegetables. Many sales were made under the pecan tree where he always had an extra chair for folks to sit and chat (free of charge). Glenn was an active member of Shiloh Reformed Church in Faith, NC, where he served as a Consistory Trustee for many years and was a member of the Brotherhood and Sunday School. Among his many contributions were renovations and upkeep of the church facilities and his carpentry skills are still evident in every room of Shiloh. He joined the Keller Memorial Masonic Lodge in 1955 and was a member of the Faith American Legion Post #327. In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his brother, Rex Holshouser; sister, JoAnn Barrier and son-in-law Robert K. Holshouser. Glenn is survived by his wife, Rose Marie McCombs Holshouser, whom he married June 6, 1948; three daughters, Melody Rose Beachem of Seward, AK, Christie Marie Holshouser of Eagle River, AK and Teresa Ann Holshouser Puckett and husband David of Harrisburg, NC. Glenn also leaves behind five grandchildren, Paul Bryan Beachem, IV, Michael Glenn Robert Beachem, Taylor Drew Holshouser, Grace Katherine Marie Puckett and Graham Carrick William Puckett. Service: The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 27, 2022, in the Shiloh Reformed Church, Faith, NC, with Rev. Wayne Trexler, officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives after the service in the fellowship hall. Out of respect to the family, everyone is asked to wear a mask during the service and visitation.
