Glenn Lyerly Obituary
He was born February 29, 1936 in Rowan County to the late Fred Lyerly and Irene Funderburk Lyerly. He was a 1956 graduate of Granite Quarry High School where he went on to work for Cannon Mills for 23 years and 15 years at Gamewell Mechanical, Inc. Mr. Lyerly was a Veteran of the United States Army serving for six years.
Glenn loved his Lord and Savior and reading and studying his bible. He enjoyed being a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years and was a member of Open Door Baptist Church in Richfield. Mr. Lyerly's first love was the Lord but loved his wife of 62 years, Mary Alice,his children and grandchildren. Glenn enjoyed building and fixing anything he could, his classic old cars and was a candy man, loving his butterscotch candy.
In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Lyerly.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Mary Alice Lyerly, whom he married August 12, 1961; son, Mark Lyerly and wife Kelli of Lewisville; daughter, Rhonda Barnhardt and husband Chris of Salisbury; daughter, Brandi Pfeil; eight grandchildren, Forrest, Hunter, Blake, and Lance Lyerly, Haleigh and Carson Barnhardt, Jessica and Jackson Pfeil and three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Ollyver and Hartley Lyerly; sister, Betty Monroe of Salisbury.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Saturday, June 29, 2024, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, in the Powles Staton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Nathan Hammill, officiating.
Burial will take place at 2:00 pm in the Salisbury National Cemetery following the service with Military Rites.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 301 South Main Street, Suite 105, Salisbury, NC 28144.

Keeping all of the Lyerly family in our Thoughts and Prayers. I pray God will wrap his loving arms around you all to help ease the pain y'all are feeling right now. Mrs Lyerly we are so very sorry for your loss. We never had the pleasure of meeting Mr Lyerly but we did meet you at Andrews birthday party. God Bless you all. Much love to everyone.
