Harold Stephen “Steve” Hackney, 72 of Monroe, NC passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Accordius of Monroe. Steve was born October 27, 1948 in Salisbury NC to the late Harold B Hackney and Ruth Bost Hackney. Steve was a 1967 graduate of Boyden High School, attended 4 years at Western Carolina University and completed 4 years of theological studies. Steve was an entertainer; working with the Elvis & Neil Diamond Tribute Artist's and was also a Supervisor with Carowinds Amusement Park. Steve was a member of the Rock and Roll Oldies Club of the Carolinas, Friends of Elvis Fan Club in Albemarle, NC, Elvis Presley Fan Club of Matthews-Mint Hill, Rocking to the Oldies Karaoke Fan Club, and the Elvis Presley Fan Club of the Carolinas. Those left to cherish the memory of Steve are his wife, best friend and companion of 10 years, Libby Privette Hackney, his brother; James Lee Hackney (Cathy), sister; Patricia Hackney West (Bill). Nephews; Bryan Hackney, Chris West (Claudette), Stacy West (Stephanie) and niece; Carrie Mosteller (Jonathan) Steve was the kindest and most humble man you would ever meet and had the biggest heart of anyone; He had a gentle soul and was a perfect gentleman to anyone and everyone he came in contact with. He was a very loving partner, husband and best friend to Libby. Steve was a very talented singer and entertainer and never turned down an opportunity to use his awesome talent. A memorial service was held on Monday, January 25th.
