Irving Peeler Obituary

Irving “Ray” Peeler passed away on August 30, 2025.

Born in Salisbury, North Carolina, Ray was the beloved son of Herman and Ermine Peeler. He graduated from NC State University in 1977 with a degree in textiles and went on to serve with pride and distinction in the United States Air Force. Over the course of his 11 year military career, Ray was stationed in Alaska, Miami, and Panama City, Florida, ultimately retiring with the rank of Captain.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; his brother, Jeff; and his parents, Herman and Ermine. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Kristen (Kevin) and Dianna (Donald); his four treasured grandchildren; Andrea, Lochlan, Nolan, and Benjamin; and his sister, Kim.

Ray had a wide range of interests and passions. He especially loved cheering on his children and grandchildren at their sporting events, always proud to be on the sidelines taking pictures for all the parents. He also loved uncovering family history, had a deep appreciation for firearms, and enjoyed scuba diving. One of his favorite pastimes was exploring the river with friends in search of hidden treasures.

A service to celebrate Ray's life will be held on October 12th at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Salisbury, NC.

Great husband, father, grandfather, and friend. I hold Ray´s friendship as one of my most treasured memories! We attended Knox Junior High and Borden High together! So glad he was my friend and fellow veteran in the USAF!!!!!
