James Chapman Obituary

James Sidney Chapman Jr. (Sonny), 84, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, April 21, 2025, at his home in Salisbury, NC.

He was born December 30, 1940, in Cabarrus County, NC to the late James Sidney and Helen Ritchie Chapman. Sonny worked as an Industrial Engineer for Michelin and Cannon Mills. He was a member of Rock Grove Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Chapman.

Sonny is survived by his wife Brenda Chapman, whom he married December 19, 1958; three daughters, Lynn Kretzer (Claud), Tracy (Currie) Pendleton, Kim Chapman; seven granddaughters, Michelle Kesler, Brooke Rowe, Ashley Harper, Lyndsey Shinn Tijerina, Billie Daily, Emmy Pendleton, Kyah Chapman; grandson, Jon Pendleton. He is also survived by his sister, Judy (Randy) Hamrick.

The family will greet friends and relatives on Monday, April 28, 5:00- 7:00 PM at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell.
