James Dodd Obituary
He was born on February 2, 1962, in Forsyth County, to James Alden and Peggy Jane Craver Dodd of Cooleemee.
Kevin was a US Army veteran, firefighter, EMT, rescue technician, pastor, and loving father and husband. Kevin served the Manhattan Fire Department of Manhattan Kansas, the City of Salisbury Fire Department, the North Carolina Air National Guard Fire Department, Rowan County EMS, and Rowan County Rescue Squad. Kevin also served as a Sunday School teacher, Elder, and pastor of Cooleemee Presbyterian Church. Kevin led a life of continual service to both his family, his church, and his community. A true believer of "Every Day a Holiday, Every Meal a Banquet," Kevin truly loved, and was loved by, all those who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Jack and Rilla Athey.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife of 41 years, Leann Athey Dodd; three children, Kara Savage (Josh) of Concord, Kaitlin Dodd of Cooleemee, and Jack Dodd (Olivia) of Advance; a brother, Keith Dodd of Clarkton; and his many brothers and sisters in Fire, EMS, and Rescue services.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 16, at Victory Baptist Church in Cooleemee, with Rev. Dr. Vicki Jones-Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury with military honors conducted by the U.S. Army and the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, November 15, at Eaton Funeral Home.
