Dear Pat, Nonnie, Nancy, and gramdchildren,You all surely know by now how special our friendship was with both Jim and Edee. We will always love and cherish both of them.

Jim's moving back to North Carolina gave us treasures in many ways that we will keep always. His insight into the many issues of life were enlightening and invited reaction and discussion. He seemed to be forever moving to the next level. He was a true artist in many ways. His art reflected his search for meaning both in this world and in the spiritual world. We will miss him forever.

Our love and sympathy,
Peggy and Tom Griffin

I wanted to let your family know how important your father was to our family. I told my father that I never met a man who inspired me to become a better person more than Jim. Tom, my father informed me today of the passing of your Dad. Your father was truly a great man who will be missed by many. He was always charming and entertaining, an artist of many media, a wine enthusiast, a gourmet chef, and an avid reader. Mr. Purcell, (Jim) was always engaging, challenging, and in many ways brilliant.

My love and prayers to your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Purcell was a very accomplised man and I am sure he lived a full life. I did not have a chance to meet him but I heard great things about him from his granddaughter, Debbie. May God be with you during this time. You are in our prayers.
