Jerome Creeger Obituary
CLINTON - Jerome William "Sonny" Creeger, Jr., 72, of 1570 Five Bridge Road, passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at Southwood Nursing and Retirement Center.
Mr. Creeger was born in 1935 in Tiffin, Ohio, to the late Jerome W., Sr. and Sarah Beam Creeger. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps for three years.
He married Sept. 1, 1956, and moved from Ohio to North Carolina in 1970. He worked for more than 20 years as a lead foreman with Hamilton-Beach Corporation. He retired from the Maintenance Department at Sampson Community College.
Mr. Creeger is survived by his wife, Sophia G. Matthews Creeger of the home; one daughter, Connie Teresa Kraft and husband Wayne of Salemburg; two sons, Gregory William Creeger and wife Joan of Salisbury and Douglas Jerome Creeger and wife Melanie of Roseboro; one brother, Walter G. "Skip" Creeger of Fostoria, Ohio; five grandchildren; three step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Tuesday, Nov. 11 from 6-8 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro St., Roseboro; and at other times, will be at the home.
Service: Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Owen, Rev. Sam Gore and Rev. Tommy Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Corinth Baptist Church, Memorial Fund, 991 Corinth Church Road, Salemburg, NC 28385.
