Jesse “Sonny” Frye, Jr., 77, of China Grove, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2015, after a courageous battle with dementia and Parkinson's disease.
Born on November 30, 1947, in Rowan County, Jesse was known for his unwavering devotion to family, steadfast work ethic, and generous spirit.
Jesse married the love of his life, Lucille Frye, and together they shared 52 years filled with love, laughter, resilience, partnership, and unwavering support.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Tina Grosvenor (Ron); his caring sisters, Dona Guy (Eddie), Joni Lineberger (Marcus), and Linda Compton (Jim); his brother, Jamie Frye and his grandson, Joshua Page (Ginnie).
Jesse was predeceased by his cherished parents, Elizabeth and Donald Martin, his brother Billy Martin and his beloved wife, Lucille.
A pillar of dependability, Jesse was admired for his hard-working nature and his ability to quietly support those around him. He retired at the age of 73, having provided a shining example of dedication to his family and all who knew him.
Jesse's passions included riding motorcycles - a pastime that brought him joy and a sense of adventure throughout his life. Though he was a private man, Jesse's kindness and caring nature leave a lasting impression on his loved ones. He taught by example, instilling in his family the core values that defined his life: Success comes to those who work hard and never give up.
He encouraged optimism, kindness, respect, and the importance of always trying your best. Jesse “Sonny” Frye Jr's legacy of love, hard work, and perseverance will remain in the hearts of all those privileged to know him. His memory continues to inspire those he leaves behind.
The family will receive friends, Friday, September 26, 2025 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home. A private family service will be held at a later date.
