John Trexler Obituary
John was born December 1, 1948 in Rowan County. He was preceded in death by his mother, Remelle Boyd Trexler; father, James Wilson Trexler (Ab), and brother Bobby Boyd- wife Anis.
He graduated from East Rowan High School in 1967 and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. John retired from Hoechst Celanese maintenance department in 2003.
John was a life long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. He was the scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 307 for many years and spent many summers at Camp Barnhardt. John enjoyed watching his children participate in sporting activities and coached the Rockwell Tornados peewee baseball team. He enjoyed spending his free time outside on activities including hunting, fishing and gardening. After his health declined, he especially enjoyed fishing at the beach where he made many friends on the pier catching pompano, whiting, and spot.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Brenda Kesler Trexler whom he married on September 9, 1972; brother, Mike Trexler- wife Robin; son, John Mark Trexler- wife Tara; daughter, Jan Trexler McCulloh- husband Mark; daughter, Jodi Trexler. He was especially proud of his grandsons Greyson, Joshua and Jagger. He is also survived by bonus grandchildren Gavin (Jeroselynn), Trinity and Lilly McCulloh, and bonus great-grandchild, Auggie McCulloh.
There will be an informal memorial service at St. Peter's Outdoor Shelter (beside the cemetery, 2570 St. Peter's Church Road, Salisbury, NC) on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM. The family will greet friends at the shelter following the service.
