Jonathan Blevins Obituary

Jonathan Lee (Jonah) Blevins, age 45, passed away Nov. 1, 2015, at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, after a period of declining health. He was born in Roanoke, Va., the son of Genevieve Lyle Blevins of Salem, Va., and the late Cecil C. Blevins. Jonah was a 1988 graduate of Salem High School and attended college studying computer science. Having worked for Allstate Insurance Company for many years, he relocated to North Carolina in the early 2000s. He was a licensed insurance agent in seven different states. Among his many interests, he enjoyed computer games, cross-stitching, word puzzles and coloring in various books. Survivors in addition to his mother include one sister, Faith Newcomb (Kevin) of Roanoke, Va.; two brothers, Larry Blevins of Salem, Va., and Cecil Ray (Buddy) Blevins (Diane) of Blacksburg, Va.; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, David Alexander of Kannapolis. Arrangements: A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, officiated by Rev. Cherly Skinner. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends after the memorial service in the church. Memorials: May be made to American Heart Association, 128 S. Tryon St., Suite 1588, Charlotte, NC 28202; or Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
