Katherine Marie Sanford "Tata" Petrucelli

1940 - 2024

Mrs. Katherine Marie Sanford “Tata” Petrucelli, 84, of Salisbury, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the Novant Health Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. She was born December 16, 1940, in Henderson County, the daughter of the late Walter Eugene Sanford and the late Willie Whitmire Sanford.

Katherine grew up in the Enka Community attending Enka Baptist Church. As a child, she sang in the church choir, was on a square dancing team, cheerleading, and clogging among her other interests. She graduated from Enka High School, class of 1959. Kathy enjoyed the arts as a musician, playing the guitar and keyboard/piano. She played in a band called the “Little Ole Opry”. Kathy retired from First Union National Bank and also from the Rowan Public Library where she worked as a genealogist. She was the editor of two heritage books in both Rutherford and Rowan counties and was a self-printed author. Kathy was a very kind and loving person, who will be missed by all her family. She lived by the philosophy” Bloom Where You're Planted”.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Terry Lee Petrucelli and sisters Frances Sanford Taylor and Myrtle Sue Britton.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Heather Kerry Petrucelli (Special friend Cameron Wallace of Omaha NE) of Salisbury, grandchildren, Scarlett Dupuy (James Lown) of Salisbury, Michael Fox of Afton, TN, and Steven Fulton of Cleveland, NC, great-grandchildren, Evelyn Bundy and Adelyn Lown and sister, Dorothy June Johnson of Penrose, NC.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Summersett Funeral Home from 4:00PM-5:30PM. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Summersett Memorial Chapel at 11:00AM with Rev. Steve Holshouser officiating. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.
