You are never forgotten Dr. Rev. Katie Cannon. I bring your name up often as someone who influenced me greatly. You gave me the words "liberation ethics" and I see how impactful your wisdom is in my daily activism work for justice here in Cincinnati. Thank you for affirming me and inspiring me when I was a participant at the Women's Theological Center in 1986-87.

The shock of learning of your passing today leaves me without words of my own. It blessed me to encounter (and talk with) you again last October 2017 at Princeton Sem's Women in Ministry Conference. It was 35 years, when last I saw you at Union Sem in NYC. You affirmed and envigorated me last October, the way you did long ago. I am grateful to you, Katie, and especially appreciate your scholarly rigor and discipline in your foundational work of Womanist Theology, back in those difficult Union days. May TheAlmighty sustain and surely comfort your precious family in this hard, hard time for them--right now!, LORD--in their shared love and appreciation for you, that only they can know, together.

I knew her from the Society of Christian Ethics and attended a workshop in NC she led with Carter Heyward. I used her writings in my classes for many years. I am shocked by her passing. May her memory be for a blessing.

The Rev. Dr. Katie Cannon inspired me as an Ordained Presbyterian Caribbean woman, 30 years ago.
I will always remember the first time I met Katie in Jamaica at a WARC woman's conference...we were roommates...she was spiritually aglow, intellectually alive and passionate in her service to God and Humankind.
I will always be grateful for the time we shared and how she helped shape my understanding of Womanist Theology.

Rev. Dr. Katie Geneva Cannon was a dear friend; one of my closest collegial sisters. Her work and life were inspirational as she so genuinely and brilliantly taught, wrote, and lived in ways that pushed beyond empty rhetoric toward behavior that sought a more excellent way. Clearly, God's touch upon my life through Katie's inspiration is a divine gift I shall always remember. Mary and I send our deepest condolences to her Mother and family.

My deepest sympathies to her Mother and family and friends of the Rev. Dr. Katie Geneva Cannon. I took a course from Dr. Cannon titled: The Moral Wisdom Found in Black Women's Literature when I attended The Women's Theological Center in 1986-87. As a community activist in Cincinnati, she helped me understand so much of what our people are experiencing through the lens of "liberation ethics". I am ever indebted to her. I hold on to the papers I did in her class. Her challenges and comments were always powerful and affirming. I call out her name often as having impacted my life. She was a beautiful and powerful teacher. She lives on in me and in every student she ever taught. She holds a special place in my heart.

The Rev. Dr. Katie Geneva Cannon was a wise and joyful soul, a serious scholar, and a lover of God and humanity. Confronting any injustice, she could hit a straight lick with a crooked stick and compel thoughtfulness and uprightness. I will miss this pioneering womanist but I will also keep her in my heart and as a friend of my mind for as long as I live. Rest well, beloved teacher, Pastor, prophet, friend!
