Kenneth Coughenour Obituary

Kenneth Lee Coughenour, 72, of Salisbury passed away October 2, 2025 at the W. G. “Bill” Heafner VA Medical Center.

Born September 5, 1953, in Rowan County he was the son of the late Thomas Daniel Coughenour and Hazel Simmons Coughenour. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served on the aircraft carrier USS Independence.

He attended Rescue House Church where he served on the prayer team. He enjoyed helping people in his church and community. He was a member of Kennedy Hall American Legion Post 106.

A hard worker, he enjoyed working around his farm; was a “jack of all trades” and could do or fix anything. He enjoyed talking to his friends and talking about politics. He loved his family and especially his dog, Sparky. He loved his country music and K-Love.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James Coughenour, Ray Coughenour, and Gary Coughenour.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 17 years, Judy Sizemore Coughenour; sons, Josh Coughenour (Charlene) of Woodleaf; daughter, Amanda Coughenour of Salisbury; step-sons, Curtis Miller (Julie) of Mocksville, Jeremy Miller (Christy) of Mocksville; grandchildren, Adam Coughenour, Chelsee Coughenour,, Andrew Coughenour, Caitlin Miller, Landon Miller, Macie Miller; great-grandchildren, Hayden Veach, Harrison Green, Blakely Miller; brother Paul Coughenour (Lynn) of Salisbury and special friends, Tracy Renko and Roger Shoffner.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday (October 7) at Summersett Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday (October 8) in Summersett Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Rowan Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rescue House Church, 653 Wilkesboro Street, Mocksville, NC 27028.
