Larry Castor

Larry Alexander Castor, 83, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018. He was born Jan. 27, 1935, in Cabarrus County to the late Herman and Lois Jordan Castor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Verna Castor. He attended school in Rowan County and retired as the supervisor of the Weave Room at Cone Mills in Salisbury. A longtime member of Rock Grove United Methodist Church, Mr. Castor enjoyed wood working, collecting “ugly jugs,” and spending time at the beach. Larry is survived by his wife, Helen Josey Castor, whom he married July 3, 1953; children, Chris Alexander Castor and wife, Niki, of Salisbury, Jerry Wade Castor and wife, Rebecca, of Rockwell, and Patti Castor Holman and friend, Trent Brown, of Rockwell; brother, Stanley Castor and wife, Peggy, of Mt. Ulla; grandchildren, Crystal Lyerly and husband, Wesley, of Gold Hill, Shanna Pruett and husband, Adrian, of Cleveland, Justin Sifford of Rockwell, Kylie Sifford of Kannapolis, Libby Losey and husband, Stu, of Salisbury, Patrick Stoy and wife, Laura, of Wilmington; great-grandchildren, Jada Lyerly, Hudson Pruett, Briley Sifford, Jacob and Piper Stoy, Hannah, Allison, and Nathan Losey; and one great-grandchild on the way. Visitation: The family will greet friends and relatives from 1:30-2:45 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 4, at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell. Service: The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., on Saturday, in the chapel of Powles Staton Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Brian M. Crady.
