Linda Bennett Brown, 81, of Salisbury, passed away September 24, 2025 at Atrium Health Hospice.
Born July 4, 1944 in Kings Mountain, NC she was the daughter of the late Ora Mae Wilson and William Dewitt Bennett. She was raised in Kings Mountain and graduated from Kings Mountain High School. She graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and went to work for Rowan Hospital in the Histology Department. After marrying Bill Brown, she got her Real Estate Brokers License and started Act II Realty. Eventually she became the office manager for Bill Brown PH & A/C Inc. to help her husband Bill run the business. She continued to work there until she retired due to Alzheimer's. She struggled with Alzheimer's for approximately 10 years.
Linda was a member of First Baptist Church of Salisbury. She was a member of XI Alpha Delta Sorority. She was heavily involved in the Salisbury Elk's Lodge and became the first female Exalted Ruler in the state of NC. She loved giving her time to the Elks, calling Bingo and helping the veterans anyway she could.
Linda loved her family, especially her grandchildren, Whitney and Michael. Linda was a NASCAR fan and belonged to the Speedway Club in Charlotte for years. Her love for football was even greater. She organized legendary bus trips to see the Falcons play for many years. Once the Panthers came to Charlotte, she and Bill were instant fans and never missed a home game, championship game, or super bowl appearance until Bill died in 2014. She was a force of nature when she put her mind to something. She will be remembered and missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Neb Wilson who raised her; and her husband, Willie Lee “Bill” Brown.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Allan Brown and wife Beth McLean Brown; grandchildren, Whitney Brown Jeffries and husband Brandon Jeffries, Michael Brown and wife Katie O'Neal Brown; and great-grandchild, Kyle Jefferies.
Visitation will be held from 12-1PM, November 1, 2025 at Summersett Funeral Home. Memorial service will follow at 1PM in the Summersett Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Farmer officiating.
