Lonnie Artz

1925 - 2022

Lonnie Alexander Artz, 96, of Rockwell, went to his heavenly home on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022. He was born Dec. 22, 1925 in Rowan County to the late Banks and Mary Lefler Artz and attended Rockwell High School. Lonnie worked at Cannon Mills for 28 years, later became a mechanic at Glosson Motor Lines, worked at M.A.N Bus and retired from Kern Rubber Hose. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Rockwell. Mr. Artz was an avid fisherman and loved to garden, but most of all loved being around his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Livengood Artz and his six siblings. Mr. Artz is survived by his loving children, two daughters, Jill Hartman of Rockwell and Kay Owens of Newland; son, Danny Artz and wife Peggy of Rockwell; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Arrangements: Private services will be held for Lonnie, with burial to follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
