Margaret B. Goodman

SALISBURY - Margaret Beattie Goodman, 85, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008 at the Bethany Retirement Center.

Born Nov. 30, 1922, in Lincolnton, she was the daughter of the late Steven Edward Beattie and Josie Irene Armstrong. Mrs. Goodman lived most of her life in Salisbury. She worked as a hostess for her brother, James Beattie, at Beattie's Open Kitchen for a number of years.

Mrs. Goodman was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Goodman, on March 13, 1997; sister Betty Ruth Heffelfinger; and brother Tommy Beattie.

Survivors include brothers Spurgeon E. Beattie of Mississippi, Joe Beattie of Granite Quarry, Bill Beattie of Tampa, Fla., James F. Beattie of Salisbury and Ray Beattie of Salisbury; sisters Racheal Poole and Ann Eagle, both of Salisbury; sister-in-law Anna Rosa Cauble, also of Salisbury. Many nieces and nephews who loved and cared for her also survive.

Visitation and Service: Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 24 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at Union Lutheran Church followed by Funeral Services at 12 p.m. with Rev. Robert Howard conducting. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to Union Lutheran Church, Cemetery Fund, 4770 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC 28146.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff and caregivers for the 10 years Margaret was cared for at Bethany Retirement Center.
