Margaret Loflin Obituary
SALISBURY - Margaret Lauran Leonard Loflin, of Leonard Road and more recently of Genesis Elder Care, passed away after a long illness on Monday July 28, 2008.
Margaret was born Oct. 26, 1924, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late S.P. and Rebecca Phelps Leonard. She was educated in the Rowan County school system and later graduated from Rowan County Community College School of Nursing.
Margaret worked as a nurse at Rowan Regional Medical Center and then retired from the Bill Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Ira A. Loflin; three sisters, Mildred L. Dorsett, Ester L. Waddell and Gladys L. Kesler; and one brother, Perry Leonard.
Margaret is survived by her three sons and one daughter, Leonard Loflin of Cornelius, Tommy Loflin of Liberty, S.C., Doug Loflin of Mooresville, and Phyllis Loflin Kluttz of Salisbury. Margaret is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Margaret was a longtime member of Trading Ford Baptist Church, a member of the Eastern Star and was a past Worthy Matron.
Service: A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 31 at Rowan Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Mike Motley.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Summersett Funeral Home.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers and in memory of Margaret, donations can be made to the PKD Foundation for Research in Polycystic Kidney Disease at www.pkdcure.org or, in her name, send to PKD Foundation, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 400, Kansas City, MO 64114.

My dad went to school with Margaret and so I knew her for years, and I had the opportunity to work with her at the VA. Such a beautiful, sweet woman - every time I saw her during the years she was so upbeat and interested in life.
