Mark Richard Owens

ROCKWELL - Mark Richard Owens, age 59, died unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at his home.

He was born Dec. 20, 1951, in Cabarrus County, the son of Juanelle Strickland Owens and the late H.T. Owens.

Mark owned and operated Mark's Service & Convenience, China Grove, for 25 years. In later years, he worked for Mid-State Machines, Mount Ulla.

His family fondly remembers his love of fishing and motorsports. He was very supportive of his wife and son.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 37 years, Nadine Jeffers Owens; his son, Jonathan Owens and wife Andrea of China Grove.

Service and Visitation: The funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, officiated by Rev. Brian Duncan. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Memorials: May be made to High Rock Community Church, 7800 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC 28146.
