1985 - 2022

Matthew Wayne Goodman, age 37, of China Grove, passed away on Monday, Dec. 12, 2022 at his residence. Born on Dec, 6, 1985 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of John Alan Goodman and Darlene Elliott Goodman. He was an honor graduate of South Rowan High School where he played soccer and was on the wrestling team. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in China Grove where he was active in the youth group. Being outdoors, listening to music and being with his family made him happiest. He was employed by Ideal Janitorial Supplies and earlier in life with Goodman Farm Supply, Imperial Brown and Metrolina Greenhouse. In addition to his parents, those with cherished memories are his children, Joshua Steelman, Jasmine Goodman and Myah Covington and their mother, Tabitha Bare. Also, his girlfriend, Teeya Kernan. Also surviving are his brothers, Nicholas Goodman (Jennifer), Caleb Goodman (Preston Ashwood), sisters Erica Goodman, and Madison Goodman (Bryan Mault). Nieces and nephews are Makayla, Max, Jayden, Paisleigh, Laiklyn, Callie and Hunter Goodman, Nicolas Mault, Aunt Amie Goodman and Uncle Lynn and Aunt Jodi Goodman. Grandparents are Hazel and Hubert Elliott, Walter Goodman and the late Peggy Goodman. Godparents are Lynn and Carmen Carter. Arrangements: Visitation will be on Sunday, Dec. 18, from 1 until 3 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church with funeral to follow at 3 p.m. with Pastors Joseph Tallent and David Franks, officiating.
