Matthew Watts Lawson

1985 - 2024

Matthew Watts Lawson, 38, of Salisbury, NC passed away Friday, June 28, 2024 at his residence.

Matthew was born September 21, 1985 in Nashville, TN to the late Michael Lawson and Lea Watts Lawson. He was educated at Davison Academy in Tennessee and later was enrolled at the University of North Carolina Charlotte where he was an honor student. History was his major. Matthew was an avid music fan and a great guitar player. He had many friends going back to his childhood in Tennessee and beyond. He never met a stranger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and younger brother, Blair Lawson.

Matthew is survived by his children, Hayden Watts Lawson, Gabrielle Lawson, Skyler Lawson and Carson Lawson of the home; maternal grandparents, Dr. H. Boyd Watts and wife Krista Watts of Salisbury, NC; uncle, Rob Watts and wife Crystal of Salisbury, NC; sister, Whitney Lawson and her daughter Ella of Dallas, TX; and favorite cousins Lauren Durland and husband Ethan and Haley Watts all of Charlotte, NC and friends.

A Graveside Service will be held Sunday (July 28) at 2 PM at Rowan Memorial Park, officiated by Dr. Rev. Mark Conforti.

Matthew was a traumatic brain injury survivor (TBI) after suffering a fall in 2022. He was also big into recovery so memorials may be made to Discovery Place, 1635 Spencer Mill Road, Burns, TN 37029.
