Nancy Burton

Nancy Gray Burton, 83, of Gold Hill, passed away on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at Autumn Care of Salisbury. Mrs. Burton was the daughter of the late Farrell H. Gray and Aleene C. Gray of High Point. She was born on April 22, 1933. She was a 1951 graduate of High Point High School and Sullins College of Bristol, Va. Mrs. Burton retired from Rowan Regional Medical Center in 2005. She was a wonderful loving mother and grandmother, and an excellent example of a Godly woman to her family. Mrs. Burton loved her church, Bethel Baptist Church and church family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Lee Burton, Sr. on Feb. 28, 1993; and infant son in 1957; and sister, Virginia Gray Rudd, in July, 1992. Mrs. Burton is survived by her daughter, Aleene Burton Rowan and husband Tom of Sequim, Wash.; sons, Farrell W. Burton of Nicaragua, and Larry L. Burton, Jr. and wife Eva of Gold Hill; nine grandchildren, Zachary Rowan, Katy Rodriguez, Matthew Rowan, Andrew Burton, Sara Burton, Joseph Burton, Amanda Burton, Tori Schmiege, and Ellie Burton; four great-grandchildren, Isaiah Rodriguez, Gabriella Rodriguez, Eleanor Schmiege, and DeVere Rowan; sister, Mary Gray Bryson of Burlington; and nephews, Eric and Patrick Rudd. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Monday, Jan. 16, from 1 to 2 p.m., at Bethel Baptist Church in Rockwell. Service: The funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m., at Bethel Baptist Church conducted by Rev. John Houghton, Pastor.
